SUMMER of SECOND CHANCES by Andrea Hurst – GIVEAWAY CLOSED

Andrea Hurst’s novel, SUMMER OF SECOND CHANCES is a perfect book to curl up with during a summer day. Picture yourself on the porch featured on the cover of the book, with your four legged furry friend and you’re all set. I’m sure I can say this for all dog owners, our pets add so much to our lives and we learn about loving and caring.

Shelby, at sweet sixteen, finds herself without friends, a place to call home, and still waiting for her first kiss. At the mercy of yet another move, she’s left to spend the summer with her grandmother at Moonwater Lake. Theo, a widowed, elderly man in town suggests she start a dog-walking business. Sometimes all it takes is one bright idea and an abundance of dogs to bond two unlikely friends and show them that dreams can still come true.

Theo is grieving the precious memories of his fifty-year marriage. If not for his aging beagle, Wally, he wouldn’t have a reason to get out of bed in the morning, much less go for walks. Theo is pleasantly surprised by his awakened feelings of hope, after crossing paths with Shelby and her grandmother.

It’s turning out to be a summer of many things; a summer of healing and starting over. A summer of friendship and unconditional love that will remind Shelby, Theo, and the town of Moonwater Lake that it’s never too late for second chances.

Sweet book to read that’ll warm your heart. Readers are engaged with some nice people and of of course, the stars of the story, the lovely dogs.

When not visiting local farmer’s markets or indulging her love for chocolate, Andrea enjoys writing stories dealing with friendship, family, and the power of love. She writes hopeful books in charming settings that take readers on uplifting journeys and leaves them with lasting impressions. She lives with her rescue poodle, Ellie, near Raleigh, North Carolina.

Her published books include THE GUESTBOOK, TEA & COMFORT, ISLAND THYME CAFE, MADRONA ISLAND B&B, CHRISTMAS ON MADRONA ISLAND and ALWAYS WITH YOU. 1. There is nothing normal about our summer. Missing our trips to see our grandkids across the country. Just trying the best I can not to give into depression. I’m walking everyday listening to books as I do – that helps. Trying to spend time reading in the afternoon when it heats up. Yoga everyday was something I started that helps. Without family around we feel very isolated but…. we are staying healthy.

  2. I work a lot so not much time to enjoy summer. I get outside and read when I can. Next weekend I have a day off. My daughter and I are going to the beach/Jersey Shore.

  3. I still am in the workforce full time, so I haven’t had a whole lot of summer to enjoy due to COVID-19 restrictions and inability to vacation or travel, so reading has been my “summer celebration!”

  4. I work in the flower beds in the early morning with my two little dogs roaming in the dewy grass. Then I clean up, have a nice lunch, then read in the comfort of air conditioning.

  5. It’s so hot and humid here, but I do try to get outside a bit each day. I love reading outside on the front porch, but sometimes it’s just too hot.

  6. I just spent 2 weeks on Lake Ontario in Sackets Harbor NY. The weather was fantastic and there was not much phone service or internet. I totally just unplugged everything. It was great.

  7. Summer is my season! I love longer and hot days. Here in Cali it’s been triple digits. I did a little get away with three friends and traveled the coast for 6 days. We’d all been in quarantine and it was good to get away.
