STORIES WE NEVER TOLD by Sonja Yoerg – Review & Giveaway

OBSESSION LOVES COMPANY.

Bestselling author, Sonja Yoerg is out with her new suspense novel, STORIES WE NEVER TOLD (LakeUnionPublishing). It’s a psychological thriller filled with well developed compelling characters and the breathless prose we’ve come to expect from Sonja. At it’s heart is jealousy and revenge, which is the perfect combination for evoking a powerful reaction. It certainly hooked me.

I’m always excited when one of Sonja’s new books is published. I’ve been a fan since her first novel, HOUSE BROKEN. STORIES WE NEVER TOLD is a story with trust and truth questioned throughout.

Jackie dated Harlan for five years before marrying Miles, because Harlan wouldn’t commit. They remain friends because they work together at the same university. Harlan shows up for a dinner with a woman, who happens to work on Jackie’s research team. It quickly becomes evident that Jackie is not completely over Harlan. Is Harlan over Jackie?

The narrative switches between the four characters putting readers firmly inside the characters’ heads. Each character is carrying deep secrets which are the stories never told. I was always questioning what was real and what wasn’t. STORIES WE NEVER TOLD kept me flipping pages through one sitting. It has a surprising and very satisfying ending.

STORIES WE NEVER TOLD will be published tomorrow, May 1st.

  1. I think if we are honest we all have momentary jealousies, especially if you have siblings, but I’ve never been consumed with one. I do have someone I know who is extremely entitled and very jealous of other family members who have worked very hard and that is not a nice person to spend time with.

  2. In the past, I’ve been jealous of a co-worker who seemed to get accolades and was promoted. I’ve since, gotten over those feelings.

  4. I believe I can honestly say that I’ve never been jealous of anyone. I have wondered what it would be like to be able to do things that I can’t do, but I’m not jealous of those who are able to do them.

  5. My brain isn’t really wired that way. Jealousy doesn’t help & only creates bad feelings. Learned long ago that nobody’s life is perfect. I may have benefits they don’t & vice versa. If there was something about them that I truly wished for, I worked at getting the same in my life (use them as inspiration). I can be happy for others, without envy. I may wonder why I can’t have (whatever it is) but it’s more about me than them. Sometimes I realize it’s not really my path, dream, etc. & that’s okay. To each their own.

  6. Jealousy is a poisonous matter. I feel that it can really hurt me if I don’t keep it under control. I wish things could be different at times but I shouldn’t be looking at others for what I don’t have.

  7. Jealousy is based on insecurities within oneself. Any honest person would admit to having experienced it at one time or another. Envy and jealousy often go hand in hand.

  8. I may have had some jealousies during my school years. I would say mostly that it was envy. I didn’t feel any ill will towards those that I was envious of; just wishful for something others had; it could be being athletic, beautiful, popular, etc..I don’t have the jealousy emotional roller coaster now that I’m a grandmother, mother, and wife, and being who I am.

  9. Oh yes, I have been jealous, BUT…it was because the person was gaslighting me and giving me reasons to think I was imagining things, when in actually he was doing things behind my back and to provoke me. He got off on me being jealous, through gaslighting me. What a nightmare that relationship was, BUT, it would make for a good book, just not sure I would not get angry all over again!! Jealousy is a hurtful feeling!

  11. I can be jealous in romantic relationships because I’ve been burned so many times but as I get older I realize thats not productive nor conducive to a healthy relationship.

  14. I try to be thankful for what I have and not be jealous of what other people have, but it can be hard at times. If I focus on thankfulness it leaves less room for jealousy.
