** ARE YOU FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO READ? ** YOU’RE NOT ALONE **

bbooks

Am I the only one having trouble reading? I find myself looking at the same words and sentences page after page. Apparently, I’m not alone. Many of us are hitting the wall when it comes to reading. For those of us who have to write reviews, its even more difficult.

Here are a few ways I’m trying to get myself back on page.

  • Short Stories: Great for short attention spans. I love A.M. Homes and anything by Dani Shapiro.
  • Light it up: Try some romance novels. You know the book is going to end happily ever after, so it’s easier to get into it. Check out anything written by Sophie Kinsella, Jasmine Guillory and Abby Jimenez.
  • Everyone’s talking about audio books: While listening you can do other things like errands around the house while listening.

Worse comes to worse, pour yourself a glass of wine and veg out for a bit before trying again. We’re in this together. Don’t worry, you’ll be back on page sooner rather than later.

  1. I think sometimes we need to listen to our bodies when it’s demanding attention. Try leaning into it instead of resisting it. That stress & struggle will make things that much harder. If you’re having trouble focusing, try sitting somewhere quiet & letting your mind wander. Bring a notepad & jot down the things you notice…a bird singing, your favorite memories, things that make you laugh, all the things you feel blessed about, things you want in your future, etc. Think about & pursue what you can do right now. Stay healthy in mind, body & spirit. 💜

  2. I’m finding that reading is helping me decompress, as I am still working full time, but in an empty building, because I am apparently essential. So, not watching the news and reading at home at night makes me feel that life is calm. I am trying to read lighthearted, happy stuff and not stuff about doing harm to one’s spouse….Don’t want to get any ideas. Stay safe everyone!

  3. I have been finding it hard to read. I decided to limit my social media, Netflix, and start reading. I finished a book last night. It was really good. The book is My Sister’s Lies by S.D. Robertson. I am now going to write a review. That is the hardest part for me. I’m not a writer and I have trouble expressing my thoughts.
