THE OTHER FAMILY by Loretta Nyhan – Spotlight & Giveaway

From the bestselling author of Digging In comes a witty and moving novel about motherhood, courage, and finding true family.

In Loretta Nyhan’s new novel, THE OTHER FAMILY (LakeUnionPublishing), Ally Anderson longs for normal life. Her marriage is dissolving, she has money problems and her life is completely up in the air. Her greatest concerns, though, are the health problems of her young daughter, Kylie. Symptoms point to a compromised immune system, but every doctor they’ve seen has a different theory. Then comes hope for some clarity.

It’s possible that Kylie’s illness is genetic, but Ally is adopted. A DNA test opens up an entirely new path. And where it leads is a surprise: to an aunt Ally never knew existed. She’s a little wild, very welcoming, and ready to share more of the family history than Ally ever imagined.

Coping with a skeptical soon-to-be-ex husband, weathering the cautions of her own resistant mother, and getting maddeningly close to the healing Kylie needs, Ally is determined to regain control of her life. This is her chance to embrace uncertainty and the beauty of family—both the one she was born into and the one she chose.

Loretta’s words:

I was a reader before I was a writer, devouring everything I could get my hands on, including the backs of cereal boxes and the instructions booklet for building the Barbie dream house. Later, my obsession with reading evolved into an absolute need to write. After college, I wrote for national trade magazines, taught writing to college freshmen, and eventually found the guts to try fiction.

I can’t live without green tea and dark chocolate. When I’m not writing, I’m knitting, baking, and doing all kinds of things my high school self would have found hilarious. I live with my wonderfully blended, Brady-Bunch family in the Chicago area.

Thanks to Kathleen Carter Communications we have one copy to giveaway. Just tell us something about your family life. We’ll announce a winner soon. Good luck.

  1. I am the oldest of 6 but now I live the farthest away from all family ☹️ There were 3 girls and 3 boys! We grew up in a beautiful little village in WNY State on a lake. Never knew how lucky I was until I grew up and left home!

  5. I would love to read this book! I placed a baby for adoption when I was 18. It’s an open adoption so she’s always known me and my family; however she had to track down her birthfather later in life. It’s been an interesting journey.

  6. One of my sons got married on February 7th. It was a glorious day. It was the first wedding for both families and we are all so very grateful that it happened before everything went really crazy. They were originally planning a March wedding but the venue they wanted had no March dates available.

  7. I’m the oldest and the only girls of four siblings. I am still the queen, since I have 2 adult male children. Expecting to have granddaughters. I am a happy girl although fighting all my life with men 😉😂
