STAY by Catherine Ryan Hyde – SPOTLIGHT & GIVEAWAY

stay

Lucky us…… Just in time for Christmas and the Holiday season, a Catherine Ryan Hyde novel. This time, STAY (LakeUnionPublishing) is a story about the power of friendship and kindness.

In the summer of 1969, fourteen-year-old Lucas Painter carries a huge weight on his shoulders. His brother is fighting in Vietnam. His embattled parents are locked in a never-ending war. And his best friend, Connor, is struggling with his own family issues. To find relief from the chaos, Lucas takes long, meandering walks, and one day he veers into the woods.

There he discovers an isolated cabin and two huge dogs. Frightened, he runs. And the dogs run with him. Lucas finds unusual peace in running with the dogs, and eventually he meets their owner, Zoe Dinsmore. Closed off and haunted by a tragic past, Zoe has given up. She doesn’t want to be saved. She wants out. But Lucas doesn’t want her to go, and he sees an opportunity to bring more than one friend back into the light. It’s either the best or worst idea he’s ever had, but Lucas isn’t giving up on Zoe or Connor.

Their unexpected connection might be the saving grace that Zoe thought she’d lost, that Connor needs, and that Lucas has been running toward.

STAY is a warm fuzzy for you to park yourself on a comfy sofa with a cuppa to enjoy!

  1. It’s been rough (my mom passed away on the 4th) but joyous at the same time (my youngest son will be flying across the country with his new wife to join us in a few days). Is it possible to cry tears of sadness & happiness at the same time? But I will have some peace when my family gathers around on Christmas. Hope everyone enjoys their holidays.

  2. Healthwise not so great, but at 76 years old, I’m alive and looking forward to Christmas with my family! Catherine Ryan Hyde is an amazing writer, and I’m in awe of her books, so entertaining! I can take my mind away from what’s worrying me — in a good way — by letting me temporarily escape into whereever she takes me!

  3. We are having Christmas with family this coming Saturday, WHAT?! it’s come too soon! I’m prepared, but it really is too soon! It’ll just be here and gone before we know it. I’d love to win a copy of this book!

  4. Presents are wrapped and shipped. Sadly our travel plans to be with our grandson are in danger as my mother in law is failing. She has had a wonderful, long (almost 102) life but has been ready to “go home” for awhile now.
Very hard on my poor husband right now to make decisions to leave, though. ☹️

  5. My holiday season is going very well. A couple of weeks ago I taught 9 family members (teens to adult) how to make Christmas trees using shirt hangers/lights/garland. My 21 year old granddaughter, that has lived out of state her entire life, asked if I would bake Christmas cookies with her next week.

  13. My holiday season got off to a good start. I finished shopping right after Thanksgiving but then ended up with an ear infection going on 2 1/2 weeks. It’s getting better but still can’t hear out of it ☹️ On the good side I was able to see my grandson in his kindergarten Christmas concert 😁

  14. I’m like 99% done shopping, probably 90% done wrapping, and now I realize how far I am in baking and everyone has requests. SO…. I’ve been buying cookies from the grocery store bakery, taking the wrapping off and calling them mine. So far nobody has said anything. Ha! Thank you for being on this tour! Sara @ TLC Book Tours

  16. Some of my shopping is done. I still have a little to do. I work at a Christmas store and it’s very stressful this time of year, but I put on a santa hat, and a smile, and help everyone get their perfect holiday gifts. I can’t wait till it’s over
