What better way to kick off summer than with one of our brightest author friends! We welcome to Thoughts on This ‘n That, the absolutely fab, MEREDITH SCHORR!

Meredith is everyone’s go-to chick-lit, chick writer. We’ve been in Meredith’s loop for some time now and figured it was time to feature her special gift.

BRIDAL GIRL (HenryPress) is Meredith’s eighth novel and although it’s the third in her Blogger Girl series, it stands alone. Meredith is legitimately in love with this book and think it’s her funniest yet. She’s so attached to the characters after writing four novels about them, they feel like family and in some ways, they are. Only, unlike her real family, they do exactly as she tells them to—most of the time.

In BRIDAL GIRL, sassy book blogger-turned-author, Kim Long, thought her life couldn’t get any pinker when she received a two-book publishing deal and a marriage proposal in the same night.

If only she could drown out the conflicting opinions of her overzealous bridal party.

If only everyone would adore her first book—or she’d take Nicholas’s advice and stop reading reviews.

If only Nicholas’s past would remain there rather than threaten their future.

The pressure is on and the clock is ticking. Will Kim ever write “The End” on her sophomore novel? And, will she and Nicholas make it down the aisle to say those two precious words: “I do?”

Fill your champagne flute and prepare to laugh with (and sometimes at) Kim as she rewrites her happy ending until it’s worthy of five pink champagne flutes full of bubbly.

If you love Christmas movies, Meredith suggests you check the Hallmark Channel guide starting in July. Then hang on to your stockings, because here comes the merriest of indulgences in print. It’s “The Proposal” meets “The Holiday”. And some argue THE BOYFRIEND SWAP is her best book yet!

Meet Robyn Lane – she’s always dated struggling creative types, including her current squeeze (Perry, an actor). For this year’s Chrismukkah celebration, her parents would love her to bring someone stable, reliable, steadily employed. You know, with health insurance and a 401(k).

Now meet Sidney Bellows. Her parents already plan her professional life (she’s an attorney at her father’s law firm). If she brings her current boyfriend (Will, an attorney) to the family Christmas extravaganza, her parents will have their wedding planned by New Year’s Eve.

Leave it to a mutual friend (and copious amounts of wine) to find a playful solution: Swap those boyfriends, fool the parents, and enjoy the holidays. It’s perfect! Robyn can show off a successful attorney boyfriend, and Sidney’s high-society family won’t ring those wedding bells when they meet a flaky actor beau.

The fun isn’t in the theory, it’s in the practice.

Will turns out to be the boy-next-door Robyn crushed on hard throughout her teenage years. Sidney’s family fawns all over Perry like he’s an Oscar-winner rather than a D-list wannabe.

Fool the parents? Enjoy the holidays? Swapping boyfriends never sounded so good or went so bad. Take time to read this one. It’s like Christmas in July.

What I love about Meredith’s rom-coms is that the characters are sweet and enduring, you can imagine being BFFs with them. Despite some far-fetched plots, which you find in all chick-lit, the stories are light-hearted and whimsical, which I enjoy reading. These are the perfect books to pack in your tote-bag, as you head out to the pool or to the beach. Pair one of these delicious novels, with a chilled glass of pinot grigio, and just lay back in a lounge chair for a delightful afternoon of fun in the sun!

About Meredith

MeredithClind'Oeil_med

A born and bred New Yorker, Meredith Schorr discovered her passion for writing when she began to enjoy drafting work-related e-mails way more than she was probably supposed to. After trying her hand penning children’s stories and blogging her personal experiences, Meredith found her calling writing smart, sassy romantic comedy, women’s fiction, and contemporary young adult fiction. She secures much inspiration from her day job as a hard-working trademark paralegal and her still single (but looking) status. Meredith is a loyal New York Yankees fan, an avid runner, and an unashamed television addict. To learn more, visit her at http://www.meredithschorr.com.

Thanks to Meredith, we’re luck to have copies of both BRIDAL GIRL and THE BOYFRIEND SWAP to giveaway. Just tell us what you love about chick-lit. We’ll announce TWO winners soon. Good luck!

  1. I have always liked the way chick lit touches on all of the emotions. When I am reading it, I actually feel whatever the character is feeling, sadness, anger, despair or happiness.
