Spring has sprung and BOOKSPARKS and SPARKPOINTSTUDIO continues their spring reading challenge with Bette Lee Crosby’s, THE SUMMER of NEW BEGINNINGS … Three women, One Family. A bond that can survive anything!
In Bette Lee Crosby’s new novel, THE SUMMER of NEW BEGINNINGS (LakeUnionPublishing), Crosby delivers the heartwarming southern fiction that we have come to expect of her. She occasionally brings us to tears throughout the book, as previously, and we’re always better off from having experienced her gentle storytelling.
Aspiring journalist Meghan Briggs has always been the responsible one in the family. So when her father passes away unexpectedly, leaving behind his at-risk business, she steps up to save his legacy—even if that means putting her own dreams on hold.
Tracy couldn’t be more different from her sister. She’s always been the rebellious type, without much direction in life. But in the wake of her latest romantic disaster, she finds herself moving back home as a single mother.
As Tracy experiences the difficulties of new motherhood, Meghan faces her own struggle: trying not to fall for the puppy she rescued. But as the summer unfolds, she discovers that, like Sox, she may need rescuing, too.
As both sisters face unexpected challenges and exciting new relationships, they’ll find that putting the past to rest can make way for blessed new beginnings.
I enjoyed a nice glass of fresh lemonade while reading this book. Family and forgiveness, you can’t go wrong. Enjoy!

We have a couple of short trips planned. One is to attend the wedding of our oldest niece. It will be great to have all the family together for that.

No special plans for summer, we take our vacation in April and go to SC before the heat and humidity of summer. I may take some shopping day trips with my sisters or girlfriends. Otherwise just hang out at home.

My summer plans may be working on our new old home. There’s lots to be done. We’re moving in next week, and then we’ll sell our current home.

My summer plans include at least two trips to Alabama, time spent in Tennessee, and the rest depends on where the oldest is accepted to grad school. He graduates 5/18, and he still hasn’t heard from 4 grad schools!
