Pub. date, September 12th, Amazon Crossing

In Russian novelist, Polina Dashkova’s novel, MADNESS THREADS LIGHTLY (AmazonCrossing), only three people could connect a present-day murderer to a serial killer. Fourteen years ago, a small Siberian town was terrorized and now, one of the three is dead.

As a working mother, Lena Polyanskaya has her hands full caring for her two-year-old daughter, editing a successful magazine, and supporting her husband, a high-ranking colonel in counterintelligence. She doesn’t have time to play amateur detective. But when a close friend’s suspicious death is ruled a suicide, Lena’s determined to prove he wouldn’t have taken his own life.

As Lena digs in to her investigation, all clues point to murder, and a string of grisly cold-case homicides that stretches back to the Soviet era. When another person in her circle falls victim, Lena fears she and her family may be next. She’s determined to do whatever it takes to protect them. But will learning the truth unmask a killer … or put her and her family in even more danger?

dark

Pub. date, October 3rd, Grand Central Publishing

Rosalind’s secrets didn’t die with her.

When a high school classmate is found strangled, her body floating in a lake, in Sarah Bailey’s novel, THE DARK LAKE (GrandCentralPublishing), it’s Detective Sergeant Gemma Woodstock to lead the investigation. And not just any classmate, but Rosalind Ryan, whose beauty and inscrutability exerted a magnetic pull on rural Smithson High School, first during Rosalind’s student years and then again when she returned years later to teach drama.

As much as Rosalind’s life was a mystery to Gemma when they were students together, her death presents even more of a puzzle. What made Rosalind quit her teaching job in Sydney and return to her hometown? Why did she live in a small, run-down apartment when her father was one of the town’s richest men? And despite her many admirers, did anyone in the town truly know her?

Rosalind’s enigmas frustrate and obsess Gemma, who has her own dangerous secrets–an affair with her colleague and past tragedies that may not stay in the past. Brilliantly rendered, THE DARK LAKE has characters as compelling and mysteries as layered as any thriller on the shelf.

stealing snow

#FRC2017

BookSparks’ Fall Reading #FRC2017 challenge continues with an addicting, eerie, edgy and enchanting fantasy.

“A magical, exciting adventure full of secrets, thieves and witches, with a unique, fresh twist on an old legend.” Jennifer L. Armentrout

Best-selling, young adult author, Danielle Paige reimagines the tale of “The Snow Queen” in her novel, STEALING SNOW (Bloomsbury).

Seventeen-year-old, Snow has spent the majority of her life within the walls of the Whittaker Institute, a high security mental hospital in upstate New York. Deep down, she knows she’s not crazy and doesn’t belong there. When she meets a mysterious, handsome new orderly and dreams about a strange twisted tree she realizes she must escape and figure out who she really is.

Using her trusting friend Bale as a distraction, Snow breaks free and races into the nearby woods. Suddenly, everything isn’t what it seems, the line between reality and fantasy begins to blur, and she finds herself in icy Algid–her true home–with witches, thieves, and a strangely alluring boy named Kai, none of whom she’s sure she can trust. As secret after secret is revealed, Snow discovers that she is on the run from a royal lineage she’s destined to inherit, a father more powerful and ruthless than she could have imagined, and choices of the heart that could change the fate of everything . . . including Snow’s return to the world she once knew.

STEALING SNOW is part one in a series, Danielle Paige has created. Readers will follow Snow as she becomes a villain, a queen, and ultimately a hero.

  11. I’m 61 years old. No more partying for me, no more dressing up kids, no more dress-up contests at work. Now I relax in my sweat pants and sweat shirt and smile knowing all that is done. I don’t even live in an area where I have to pass out candy any more.

  12. I am going to dress up as Wonder Woman! NOT. At my age I don’t don a costume anymore. But if I were to dress up, I’d want to be WONDER WOMAN!
