I’ve known writer, Dee DeTarsio for … well, lets just say YEARS, now! (too many to admit, really) We met on-line as fellow writers. I was just starting out and Dee was very generous with her knowledge and helped me avoid many mistakes I would have inevitably made without her guidance. I will forever be grateful.
She’s written eight novels and two of my favorite include, THE KITCHEN SHRINK and HAOLE WOOD. THE KITCHEN SHRINK is about a women who wins a kitchen makeover. A television production company moves into her house, and let’s just say she gets a lot more than new cabinets and counters in the form of a gorgeous cameraman who raises the temperature every time he steps into the kitchen … ready to work.
Dee and I both have a special place in our hearts for Hawaii and every time I need a Maui fix, I crack open HAOLE WOOD. It’s about Jasmine, a Haole (non-native Hawaiian) forced to move to the Islands for several reasons, including to clear her wacky grandmother, who loves to smoke the local weed, of a crime. It’s a light-hearted chick-lit, mystery that will have you ordering a Mai Tai when you sit down to read it.
“A Charming Gone With the Wind era love story . . .”
Friendship, fate and facing fears … These are some of the themes in Dee DeTarsio’s new novel, LUELLEN & LUCY, a charming “Gone With the Wind” era love story. The Civil War may be over, but for thirty-year-old Luellen, the battle has just begun. After burying her husband and three children, Luellen is desperate to find another husband. So when a doctor with three children offers to marry her, she doesn’t think twice. But as Luellen finally finds the love and security she never thought she deserved, Lucy disapproves of the match and threatens to ruin Luellen’s chance at happiness. Eventually, Lucy agrees the move north to Ohio is more important than losing their friendship.
DEE DeTARSIO is an award-winning writer living in southern California. After growing up in Ennui, Ohio, and graduating from The Ohio State University she vowed never to be cold again and ended up in Tucson, Arizona, producing the news for the CBS affiliate, oddly enough called KOLD-TV. She moved to San Diego where she worked in the SeaWorld entertainment department as a producer/writer. (Penguins are mean!) She then became a producer/writer for the NBC affiliate. Now she’s an award-winning author.
